fuel delivery problem with chevy 350

I have a 350 chevy in my 1981 silverado long bed. Just installed a new electric fuel pump in it. The problem is that after it has been driven around for about 5 minutes the fuel filter (which was changed to) goes dry. The engine starts to stumble it'll start but as soon as you step on the gas it shuts off.

having fuel in those clear fuel filters is just an indicator and not always a reliable.

First things first...is the pump still running when the engine stalls?

Y?

Then the next things is to verify fuel pressure with a guage.

If it ok then you do not have a fuel related issue.
