First off, add a K&N air filter, then tune it up with the best pieces you can afford, use spiral core spark plug wires and not the cheapy part store solid core type, take your time and route them correctly. add a lower restriction muffler, fill the rear diff with royal purple synthetic lube, this will cut rolling resistance. check tire air pressure regularly, connect a vacuum gauge and drive where the gauge stays at it`s highest. if a tail gate is in use, keep it open or use a air net. go over the spark timing with a fine tooth comb, if your still running points, dump them for a HEI. There are more mods you can do, but it gets more costly and involves more work, these basic mods will help power as well as mileage.
