Post Fuel Injection Computer

I have a 1986 Chev 4x4 Deisel. I am taking the deisel out. I bought a 1989 Chev Caprice (cop car) with a good running 350 TBI. I am going to put the 305 TBI in my truck. Now I know that when replacing a computer in a F.I. vehicle the computer has to be the right one for that specific vehicle. So my question is will this work right in my truck using the car computer or should I look for a computer for a 4x4 truck, or can I just buy a replacment chip for it. If I do get a computer for a 4x4 will it plug into the car wiring harness or will I need to replace that to.
