Post Fuel injection engine switch

I’m considering putting a late model engine in my 1970 mustang, I’ve heard that model year 1987 through 1992 5.0 engines will fit. Will my C-4 tranny work also? I want to add fuel injection and it seems that getting a donor car is the cheapest way to do it. What will I need to change or modify to complete the switch? Any advice will be appreciated

Thumbs up

It's basically a bolt in swap. You can either retain the donor car's harness and ECM or buy the changeover kit from FORD Racing. The C4 can stay (but I would prefer an AOD myself).

If you stay with the C-4 trans with a newer motor keep in mind that the balance on the 5.0 was changed in 1981 from 28.3 oz to 50 oz (balance weight on fly wheel)so you will have to do something for a flex plate.
