Fuel mixture and air temperature

How much will the ambient air temperature affect the mixture ( main jetting ) of an engine? By my thinking it would run leaner because of the additional air molecules per fuel molecule present in the mix, but I could be wrong. Any thoughts?

Yes you are correct. As the air temperature drops the air gets more dense. This requires that you richen your mixture to maintain the same air fuel ratio you had dialed in for the warmer temperature.
