fuel problem

1999 chevy tahoe 2wd automatic 5.7L vortex V-8 mfi.

I replaced the plugs & wires, air filter & pcv valve.
before I did this & after I did this the engine would crank but not run.
I pulled the air breather off & poured about 1/8 cup of gasoline down the carburator & she ran, but as soon as the gasoline was dissipated, she wouldn't run anymore, just crank.
Could this be a fuel filter or fuel pump problem?
I want to go with the cheapest way out if possible for I am on ss retirement.
If it just happens to be the fuel pump, can I get to the gas tank through the back floorboard,or,will I have to pull the gas tank?
Thanks for any help. May GOD bless.
