Depending on the year you might be able to remove the pump from the sending unit and replace it with a tube/pickup an reinstall the sending unit. Then you can keep the factory fuel guage and use the power feed wires to run the new pump. Heck, you could utilize the fuel return line if you want.
If it is a newer year engine the guage and pump power feed will only work with the stock ECM. However, you can still utilize the wiring at the tank and just "hi-jack" the wiring at the ECM in the engine compartment.
Obviously this requires some fabrication, but it can come out real nice. As long as your engine is not too radical and doesn't need larger fuel lines.
