Fuel Pump ????

My car (mid '70's) quit on me today, it's not getting gas. I can pour a bit into the carb and it runs fine but after I quit bottle feeding it kills again. It ain't sucking the gas up through the line and clear fuel filter. I pulled the line off the side of the carb and sucked gas all the way up to the carb, then put the line back on and bottle fed it some more but when I stopped it killed again and this time I can see the gas all running back out of the see through fuel filter until the filter is almost empty. At first I thought it may be a clogged filter so I replaced it with a new one but it still did the same thing. What else could it be? Can anyone verify this before I pull the fuel pump off?

try to run it on a boat tank or stick a 3/8" line in a 2 liter soda bottle, with a hole in the top. put some down the carb and see if it takes the fuel.. if it does you got a clogged line/ tank... sounds like the pump to me tho
