fuel pump

I'm going to use an electric fuel pump for my SBC. Should I just remove the push rod for the mechanical pump? Obviously, it would serve no purpose, but I thought I should ask the experts. I'm a bit of a newbie, so I don't want to do anything stupid !!

Yes, remove the pushrod and mechanical pump, cover the hole with a block off plate as this area is open to the oil pan area.
