Fuel Pump 1993 Mustang

when I turn th ignition to on I hear the fuel pump humming for 3 0r 4 seconds like it is prssurizing and then it stops. When I start the engine I continiously hear the fuel pump humming. I am told that it is located under the back seat and am wondering why it continues to hum. Any thoughts? Harry

What you are hearing is normal, it pressurizes the fuel rails when the key is turned on then stops, and once the engine starts it resumes pumping, that is how the pump works with fuel injection. The pump is in the fuel tank.
