Fuel Pump Mounting

Howdy folks! I just purchased an Edelbrock #1791 fuel pump to use on my 96 C1500 shorty with a 388 SBC. Upon opening the package I notice that the inlet and outlet on the new pump are reversed from the old pump. So, in order to avoid a snake-like plumbing job, I had the idea to mount the pump upside down. Is this going to be a problem if putting the pump motor on the bottom? I've been trying ede tech for two days. All I get is the "due to the high volume of calls......call again later". What does everyone think....mount it upside down?

Thanx.

NOTE: These pumps are only designed to push fuel from the rear of the vehicle forward, towards the engine bay. The pump must be mounted
below the fuel level or pickup tube inlet for the pump to prime properly on startup. Ideal installation would mount the pump upright as shown
in Figure 2, but the pump will operate in any orientation.
