Fuel Pump Not Priming Help!!!!!!!!!!

The battery is going out and i dont know if it has anything to do with this but im just wanting to make sure, The fuse to the fuel pump on the the passanger side frame rail(behind the battery) keeps blowing, and now when i turn the key to let the fuel pump prime it wont prime, can anybody tell me what went wrong in the short 24hr time span, or can anybody tell me what i did wrong so i wont do it again after i fix it, my other problem is im looking at the haynes guide for the fuel pump location, it showing it behing the radiator hose going to the water pump but when i got under the car too check the wires to the fuel pump, the picture that they have in the haynes guide that says its a 2.8 v-6 looks nothing like my motor, but before when the fuel pump was priming it sounded like it was coming from that location..... what do i do?

re: Fuel Pump Not Priming Help!!!!!!!!!!

welcome to the site

You need to check thoroughly. I think that you have an electric pump inside the fuel tank.

after chacking and a ride to advanced...

it kept blowing fuses and still woldnt prime, so i went and got a new relay switch, the fuelpump primed, it is in the gastank, so its safe to say that thats not the problem????? after it primed i tried to start the car and it wouldnt turn over, its not blowing fuses now, there is another relay to the right of the one that i replaced, could that be part of it also??? i keep going back to the haynes guide but its useless unless its telling you how to remove a bolt and replace it, lol

re: Fuel Pump Not Priming Help!!!!!!!!!!

If this is a 20 yr old car you could have additional problems.

1) There is no relay in the starter circuit, except for the main starter relay itself. Usually the big cylindrical thing on the starter. They do go bad suddenly.

2) The ignition switch could be bad, failing to connect certain circuits. It has been turned off and on a gazillion times.

3) The neutral safety switch could be bad or maladjusted. It too has been switched a gazillion times. Try wiggliing the shifter while holding the key to crank position to see if it will connect.

4) The wiring itself has finally vibrated and made an intermittent connection or a short in certain circuits.

You are going to have to find someone who can trouble shoot the starter trigger circuit.
