Fuel Pump Wiring Harness

Another question relating to my Sonoma engine swap.

The '97 5.7 L has MFI, which needed a higher pressure fuel pump. So that's in the tank now and it works fine. In the Helms manuals, however, I see another harness in the schematics for a "fuel pump primer" circuit, and there is a lead coming off the VCM for one.

So...what's the fuel pump primer? Do I need something else?
