future tranny info

two things.i have the th-350 out of my GMC VANDURA G-2500 in storage and its still in good shape. after the 305 blew up i declare the van brain dead and remove the computer.what must i do when rebuilding the th-350 to use it as a non lock up tranny besides changing the converter.can i use the same valve body?
also i have a 700r4 out of an 85 z/28.is it rediculous to think that i can change some of the parts in that tranny like the pump for a reasonable amount of money and place it behind a 450 h.p. motor and make it live.it has already had a normal rebuild by an ampco rebuilder i used to know on his own time.i already have a converter too.can you give me a ball park figure off what it might cost and tell me which parts i would have to replace?

The lockup 350 can be used as is. It just won't lock up. To change it to a non lockup will require internal mods. and Yes the valve bodies/internal passages are different. To modify the 700 to reliably take 450 hp. is not a low-buck deal. Lots more than a pump change!

the t-350c can used with out locking the converter. there will be no ill effects from not using the lcokup as compared to the 4L60 tranny.

To swap parts in the t-350c to convert to full non lockup requires many parts from a non lock up t-350 and knowledge. if not done correctly the tranny will blow out the front converter hub seal from the pump on a regular basis.

the 1985 700/4L60 would require too many parts to update it to handle the mentioned HP

as for the th-350 i just wanted to know what to expect for the next overhaul when i am ready to take it in.as for the 700r4 i may as well sell it.what does a fresh 85' z/28 700r4 go for and if i have to start with another 700r4 core is there one thats better than another to look for.is a truck or 4 wheel drive 700 any better than the rest or will any do?also is it true that i should look for at least an 88' model?thank you much for the help.
