My Toyota Corolla is making a lot of rattling noises from the front when I go over bumps. I've check the control arm bushings and ball joints for play. They look good, so I've narrowed down the possibilities to be the struts or inner cv joints.
Most auto parts stores list complete replacement struts as the only part available, but a few list the shock cartridge that goes inside the strut. It has the original struts.
I'd like to save a few bucks and replace just the cartridge.
How can I tell if the strut is rebuildable by just replacing the cartridge?
Are all struts rebuildable?
I believe the cartridge is screwed into the top of the strut.
Thanks.
