G-body Manual Trans Conversion

First off, what manual trans options came on stock G-bodies?

I have an 86 Grand National and despite the naysayers of the turbo buick community, I have chosen that I want to go through w/ a manual conversion. I found a site that showed how to use 80's F-body T5 and pedals/master cylinder to do the swap into a G-body. I am wondering if a hydralic system would be better? easier? And also, I was thinking that as long as I didn't drop the clutch and bang the gears, a T5 might handle the power, but it still might not...so I thought about the T56, which brought me to the whole hydralic clutch idea(the donor cars that I know of would be hydralic I believe).
Also, any suggestions as to what donor cars I can use, how much these parts usually go for(going to try to go for the junkyard special), where I can get a driveshaft cut(or a custom one), and where I can get a bellhousing to fit a B.O.P 3.8L

Thanks for your help
Wesley

The T5's gonna grenade on you, Tremec makes a 5 speed that will take the power. I did not think there were any G's with a man trans but I am sure I am wrong. I would think a search would turn up a kit though as many of these cars were sold.

Generally, a hydraulic clutch doesn't respond as quickly as a linkage clutch setup.

So much for the "Power Shifts"..........................

The new vetts are all juice clutches same for mustangs the Ford GT and every Ferrari, they are as quick as anything else and never need adjusting.

Gear Vendor makes an overdrive unit for most applications. http://www.gearvendors.com/

There were some g bodies made with a manual transmission. Mostly 78 and 79 malibus I think. They had a mechanical clutch linkage. People sell the linkage and pedals on ebay but they are rare so they go for pretty high prices.

Its possible to use a hydraulic setup from an F body. I'm actually planning to converty my 81 grand prix to a manual transmission. It'll be a while before I can get the money together though.

Check out these links. You may have seen them before but there is good info:

T56 into G body

Another T56 in G body

LS1 and T56 in G body

T5 into G body

There was a large assortment of transmissions available in the 78-83 Malibu models. I'm not sure if all below were available, but all were listed in the option codes for these years. These included the following with the option code listed:
M15 - 3 spd standard transmission
M20 - 4 spd standard transmission (Muncie)
M21 - 4 spd close ratio (Muncie)
M38 - Turbo 350 automatic transmission
MM3 - 3 spd standard transmission.
MM4 - 4 spd standard transmission.
MX1 - automatic transmission (metric or TH250?)

How to convert to manual tranny:
