g-body rear troubles.

i have a 1984 monte carlo ss, and i know with sepcail control arms a 12 bolt from a chevelle will "bolt up" but i have a 8.5 inch 10 bolt from a 1979 pontiac full size car. it has the control ars and etc. im wondering if the same special control arms will make it so the rear from that will bolt in.

What model Pontiac car are you considering, if it's a B-body it's a NO GO as you will need really negative offset wheels to make it even look close to being right.

I am currently considering swapping out the axle in my Malibu, and have a bunch of information on this I just found this morning.

I am still stuck with a couple things that I would need to know that I haven't been able to find on the internet.

I have access to a guy who will completely refurbish rear control arms for a VERY reasonable price, I will ask him about "tweaking" them to fit one size axle in another car. He should also have the measurements I need, and when I find it all out I will add it in the Knowledge Base here at Hotrodders.

the car is a catalina, i took some measurements and im gonna need something like a 5 1/2 inch rear spacing iwth an 8 inch rear wheel and they will fit inside the fenderwells. I can get wheels with the right spacing they wont look very cool in my opinion but im willing to sacrafice the looks for knowing im not gonna destroy my rear end if i hook up good. Ive been looking and looking for a metric 8.5 inch rear, its like a needle in a hay stack. so my options are about 1000 dollars for a custom 9 inch, wich is alot more than i need. or swapping in the catalina rear, or something of the sort.
