Does anybody know how reliable/accurate these things are for measuring horsepower?

I know a guy that has one and he said its real accurate. he said its almost identicle to track times. You have to make sure the device is fairly level. Only big diff is that it starts the timming right when you move. The track of course works off the lights. HG

Do you think aerodynamics could significantly affect the horsepower measurements? (my Chevy II SS isn't the most streamlined, though it could be worse)

Well, Id say yea, but it wouldnt change the G techs reading any more than it would change track times. U see what Im getting at? If the cars aerodynamics are going to slow you down, it will show up on the G tech readings, but it will also affect your track times as well. HG

The limiting factor in recording efficiency is keeping the detector level, ideally you need a free floating gimbal to achieve perfect accuracy. The device works using accelerometers so as long as the device is perfectly level thoughout the test it will be accurate.
