Post Galaxie?

my dad bought two 62 galaxies when i was a kid. he got a red four door to drive and a blue two door for parts. i remember him selling the four door a long time ago, but i found out a while back that he still has the two door. it was way back in the woods at my grandfathers house. i finally got around to checking it out, i expected it to be all to crap. i was surprised to see that it was very solid, all the glass is perfect, the body is solid except for a softball size hole in one of the rear quarters. my question is, what do you guys think of these cars? are they worth fixing up? i would be restoring it for sentimental value only, as it was the first car i remember riding in. Lastly, my dad says its got a 292 y block with a 2 speed auto, are these engines any good? if not a buddy of mine has a 429 he wants to sell, would it fit?

Anything is worth fixing up as long as it's something you want to drive. The 429 will fit. Get it, take your time, get the bodywork straightened out, and get a piece of history back on the road again.

Love all the old Galaxies, get her running and have fun.

A 427 is the ultimate if you can find one.

thanks for the input guys, if i do decide to fix this car up it'll be a few years down the road when i have a bit more change in my pockets.(im only 19 now and barely making more than minumum wage) if i don't decide to fix it up, im gonna sell it to someone who will. to me one of the worst things in the world is a rotting classic.
