re: Garage seating

Thanks. I never thought about a work bench, but that would work.I have seen this done with the back of cars but it is always taking up about 3 feet of space. With the back of the truck when I don't need the seating I just close the gate and it only takes up about 8" of room.

re: Garage seating

A friend of my son gave me the whole truck. New Interiors and I put the front clip under a 49 Ford car.The bed was near perfect but I couldn't even give it away. I was about to bring it to the scrap yard when I got this idea.

re: Garage seating

If you want to have fun, hook up the lights to a wig-wag or a flasher and a deep cycle battery. Looks good though! Jerry

An alternating flasher used on headlights of police cruisers. It alternates from side to side. They are about 20-25 dollars. Jerry

re: Garage seating

Very cool seat! I was thinking about doing something similar in my kitchen whenever I finally get around to remodeling it. One as fold down seating at the table and another at counter height as a small appliance hutch.

I'm a little concerned as to how to fasten the seating unit to the wall though. Exposing the studs isn't a problem. I want to have enough of the floor sticking out to be able to put some angle on back of the seat without having it stick out above the tailgate. Any suggestions?

re: Garage seating

I welded 1/4" plate to the back where I cut it off. Then it did not line up wit the studs so I welded 1/8" plate to the end of some angle iron and bolted it between the studs.1 for each end. I drilled a 1/2" hole in the 1/4" plate and angle iron and welded the nuts to the back then bolted it to the angle. Now when I finish my wall all I have to do is drill corresponding holes in plywood and bolt it back up.
