OK...how many of you besides me use garage tools for stuff around the house?
I have been drywalling my new family room for like 100 years now and the wetsponge sanding technique isn't cutting it anymore, I am ready to roll out the air hose from the garage and start sanding with the DA.
I had to laugh earlier also my room was completely covered with drywall dust floating in the air...I mean we're talking 2' vision here...anyways I went and got the Big o' garage fan and the leaf blower to evacuate the room of all dust.
Now when I paint my room I wonder if I should paint it with PPG, Dupont or House Of Kolors...

Wimer, your in line sander is much more suited for dry wall work. Now just figure how to set up your paint room air filteration system and you will not have near the dust/visibility problem!

I thought everyone did it?! I've been using my HVLP spray gun for house painting ever since I got it. Works great. Put in your paint stretch the airhose from the garage or put wheels on your compressor. Hook that sucker up and a 20'x25'x10' room you can spray in about 45 minutes including masking, refills and you don't even need a ladder. My bro used his gun and a jar of rainbow metallic to paint the ceiling in his daughters room, looked really cool. He doesn't use spackle anymore, he uses my frikin body filler. His wife uses my buffer to clean the tub...puts a garbage bag over it uses some liquid cleaning stuff and an old pad and goes to town. Little tip, if you get caught doing this you will get 15 minutes of screaming and just all out hell, but if you come home and they are doing the same thing, don't even think about saying a word. Its hazardess to your health.

My grandfather redid a Walnut dining room table one time and used laquer clear coat and afterwards buffed it out with the car buffer...It looked like glass when he was done. Upkeep consists of carnuba wax. Gotta love Granpa's ways.

Is there suppose to be something wrong with using a DA and idiot stick on drywall?? I got tired refilling paint cups along time ago and bought a 3 gallon or so pressure pot; it’ll spray acrylic enamel or latex I just don’t use the binks #7 with latex… As well, I’d better not mention what I’ve used my 7” Makita grinder for, much less using my automotive sandblaster to freshen up the cedar siding and use a light “reddish” oil to re-stain and waterproof it with. And nothing works better to drive lag bolts into beams than a pneumatic impact wrench. And is using an oxy/ acetylene torch to light the BBQ pit with cheating?

How about just the flip side. i use drywall screws and metal studs on my cars!

Opposite for me is using a claw hammer to adjust and take out frustations and to rip stuff out!

Once used an 18" blackhawk prybar to "work" on the ceramic bathroom sink.....wife was not pleased with results!!

Hey, Weimer! Wet sanding mud sucks! I always sand dry..and run the rainbow vacuum,to suck up the dust...lots `o dust!!! Are you using a pre-mix or powder? The pre-mixes are usually more difficult to manage, and dont sand as easily as a good quality powder does.

I too, tired of overhead sanding of the drywall, wheeled the compressor into the house and fired up the ol' d/a worked like a charm. father in law, ( woodworker) sheet his pants at so much power. then he went and got his own d/a (wouldn't own up as to why though. thats alrite, we know)
