Is Garnet a good subsitute for aluminum oxide

I was using coal slag in my Harbor Freight pressure blaster. It clogged at the nozzle to much to the point it drove me bananas. It is turning my Firebird project into a grueling task. I went out and got some aluminum oxide at Harbor Freight with 20% off coupon so 35 bucks. It was only a 44 pound container so it only allows me to blast for 10-15 tops which still sucks considering I have the 110 pound blaster. The good thing is It does not clog anymore.

I found Garnet at tractor supply for 25 bucks for 50 pounds. I really wanna get the sub frame, floors and firewall painted before I have to go back to college at the end of next week and I don't have much cash. Should I get some garnet or should I buy some more aluminum oxide?

Nobody uses garnet?

I bought some and used it today. It worked great. Very fine red sand.
