gas mileage in a '60 302 ranchero or similar

What are you guys getting for gas mileage in your '60 302 rancheros or similar vehicles backed by a c-4 (don't know axle ratio). Also same question but replace 302 with 351(cleavland or windsor)

Ford wasn't making the 302 in 1960. The 60 Ranchero might have had either the 292 or 312 Y block. The first SBF showed up in 64 and was called the Fairlane engine (221 cu. in.). It then grew to 260, followed by 289 and then the 302 around 68 or 69.

I know. It's had a 302 transplant and I am assuming someone has also done this conversion.

I had exactly what your're talking about, 60 'Chero with a swapped in 302 and C-4. I pulled a 2.80 Maverick rear and got around 17-19 mpg. She was my daily driver. I'm a little surprised the moderater does'nt realize this is a Hotrodding. Com board and thinks a given ride should have a stock motor.

I know the car has a transplanted 302, but....

in 1960, the Ranchero was built on the Falcon platform. No v8 was available, although a SB Ford would bolt in with later parts. Just wanted to clear that up.

Given the way the origonal post was worded, it sounded like he meant it was a stock motor.

Now that I think of it, you're right. I was thinking of the later platform. All those Fords look alike anyway.

Hey Centerline, quit junking up good chevy's with them darned dodge motors will ya?
your killing the value.

I know for a fact, a buddy of mine get's 22 mpg on the highway in his 302 79 ford truck. not a 'chero or even a 60's model, but it still weighs 3800# and is as aerodynamic as a brick to boot.
btw, it has a little cam and a 4 bbl and some other nonstock stuff.
