[QUOTE=Jon]Good morning everyone .

I have completed the parody video of Gas Monkey Garage.

I've posted it on YouTube. Here's a link: Monkey Boys Garage.

QUOTE]

Is there another place to view it? It says on YouTube it was removed and I quote
"This video has been removed at the request of copyright owner Dodgy Monkey Media LLC because its content was used without permission"

Looks like dodgy doesn't like the heat!!!!!!! I guess YouTube can remove what they don't like just like Jon can remove what he doesn't like on this site. Jon can you post your parody somewhere else? If so you could make a new video for YouTube to advertise the new site of your parody.

I'd also like to add that the amount of thread views is really staggering so Jon's message seems to be getting out very quickly

As a Moderator here
and a former bouncer at STRIP Club ... I have sat back and just watched this little episode develop ...
I am not computer literate enough to create on the youtube thing ...

I am amazed at them getting JON all worked ...
I have seen him be the peacemaker, almost run from confrontation and generally be non aggressive ...

Someone really whizzed in his corn flakes ...

Go JON ... I did not think you had it in you ...

Our video has been removed by YouTube following a complaint. However, the original video has also been removed . Time for a (very quick) pat on the back for everyone who has helped out here.

I've put the video up on the server that hosts our Crankshaft Coalition, in the San Francisco bay area. Here's a link to the video:

Monkeyboys Video.

(That's in .mov format, which you should be able to play with the QuickTime player. I'll be working on converting it to other formats as well. We'll need Flash Video Format and Windows Media Player Format for starters.)

If they try to exert any pressure to get that video removed, we will use our server in Switzerland. If they try to exert any pressure on Swiss authorities to get it removed, we will get some server space in a third-world country, and place the video there.

They will have much less luck trying to use Communist tactics to get it removed from the SF bay area server, as it's run by Marc Perkel. Marc was the guy who helped us out when the Australian mainstream hotrodding media tried to force down the largest Australian hot rod site on the web. That's what led to us starting Ozrodders.com to provide a safe haven for the Aussie hotrodders. Marc is a huge free speech advocate, and he puts his money where his mouth is. He accomplishes more with his middle finger than most people do with an arm and a leg. He's one of those genuine "baaaaaaad dudes", even though he probably would never admit it. Marc has done a lot to support free speech online. Everything from hosting sites that other datacenters won't touch, to starting his own web-based religion, the Church of Reality.

At this point, I'd like to ask everyone reading this thread to do their part to protect our First Amendment rights as Americans, and our rights as human beings to express ourselves. If you don't protect your rights, they will cease to exist.

I would really appreciate it if everyone reading this thread, especially our Hotrodders Bulletin Board members, would take the time to please select 1 forum from this list: Crankshaft Coalition Master List of Hotrodding Forums, register a username, and post about this video on that forum. As always, please be most respectful of other forums when posting on them. Here's a sample post you can use as a guideline. It's best not to copy-paste this word-for-word, as it will be perceived as disrespectful. However, you can use it as a template for what to say. My notes are in italics.

Quote:
Hi, I saw this forum listed on the Crankshaft Coalition Master List of Hotrodding Forums. (Say where you found their site first. Initial honesty shows that you're not trying to manipulate them.)

I've taken the time to read your posting guidelines, and I hope that my post doesn't violate them. Please let me know if it does. (R-E-S-P-E-C-T. Read those guidelines, and don't violate them.)

I'm posting here today because we have created a hilarious parody video of the latest Hollywood hot rod television tripe that we feel is poisoning the hearts and minds of American hotrodders. (Let them know that the video is funny, and true.)

We've posted the video on YouTube, but we it's been unjustly removed, despite the fact that it's clearly a legal parody, and well within the boundaries of our right to free speech as Americans, and as human beings. (Explain the situation briefly.)

Here's a link to the video so that you can watch it:

http://www.crankshaftcoalition.com/monkeyboys.html (That's in .mov format, I'll work on putting it in other formats too, so that we can upload those as well.).

Also, here's a link for more information on this disturbing matter:

http://www.hotrodders.com/bad .

(Post a link to the video, and a link to http://www.hotrodders.com/bad . Please use the http://www.hotrodders.com/bad url. It now points directly to this discussion, but we can always re-point it to a summary page of this situation when this thread becomes too long to read.)

Thanks for listening. I hope you enjoy the video. (Thank them respectfully.)
After posting on a forum, please return to this thread and post a link to that forum so that we can keep track of which forums we've covered.

Gas Monkey Garage used us. They ignored our guidelines, spammed our forums, and insulted our intelligence with pathetic propaganda and duplicitous "let's donate to charity" marketing tactics. We asked for a genuine apology many times, and we never got one. We asked them to please remove the video from the web, and they ignored us. When we spoke our minds, they used harmless legal scare tactics to try and intimidate us into ignoring our rights to free speech. It's disgusting, and we're not going to roll over and let it happen.

Once again, here's that link: http://www.crankshaftcoalition.com/monkeyboys.html .

I think I noticed over 6000 hits on this thread
There was 81 views of the video at 1:30pm Central

You ALL have done a great job

Posted on the HAMB, before I saw your guideline post. I'll sign up on a few more later on and use the guideline post.

I would think that a liquor advertisement would be a natural next marketing step for these guys. Or maybe cigarettes, everyone knows that those are even badder.

I like the drawn-in red mustaches that you used. It reminds me of the 18-second mark of Gas Monkey Garage's video, in which red drawn-in devil horns and tail are used to indicate Richard Rawlings's status as the "anti-Christ of the hot rod world". Also, note the convenient proximity of the word "Voodoo", to further push the theme. I'm sure that's just a coincidence, these things are never scripted. Here's a screenshot:

That will be enjoyable to parody when someone (possibly me) has some fun with that video.

Hopefully we will get more contributions like MoparGuy's when this thread receives even more attention. The YouTube video is now listing 1,801 views, while this thread is now at 983 views. We are gaining ground quickly . To help us out, I've added a link to this thread on the home page of Hotrodders.com. People can easily access this discussion simply by clicking the link that says: "Sellout fake badboy Hollywood hotrodders: Gas Monkey Garage".

Also, it will be cool when Google adds this page to their search results. That way, when people enter "gas monkey garage" into Google, our discussion will come up. It looks like the marketing goons for Gas Monkey Garage don't have very strong search engine optimization skills (the ability to make sure that your pages are properly publicized in search engines). This is an interesting irony, since search engine optimization is one of my strongest skills.
