Gas Tank

Hi folks. I'm working on this tank. I've stripped the paint, pulled the dents, and sanding the bare metal with 80 grit. What should be my next step? I'm trying to learn this art but self teaching sometimes is a rough way to go. anyway I have some SPI. epoxy primer to shoot on it, but should I shoot it over the bare metal, then work the 80 grit scratches out? or use a high build polyester primer? thanks...Randy

How about shooting a nice coat of POR15 cast iron (grey) and call it done. Do the straps in black.

Before I installed the new tank in my mud truck I coated it with a can of black undercoating in a spray can. It's been two yrs. and it's still on there.

Put the SPI epoxy on first, then your polyprimer.

Yeah, I agree with Old Fool SPI epoxy first then if you have anymore bodywork to do then do that and then put on the polyester primer. Sounds like you've got all the right materials and good luck you can do it!
