I haven't been in the T for a while & am ready to start it up again. My tank is dry with a little surface rust. I have an inspection plate to get down into it so I want to wipe it out before I put new fuel in it. Does anyone have any idea of what to wipe it out with? I thought WD40 just to get any loose stuff out. Is there something better? DPI.
Well you could take it to a radiator shop and have it cleaned or if the surface rust isn't too bad use some 0000 steel wool and thinner. As you can guess you really need to clean it out good with soap and hot water when done. I've polished lots of alum..... even my triple pontoon boat with 0000 steel wool, works great.
depending on how bad it really is.. IF u can pull the tank.. i used soapy water and a decent sized chain, maybe 2 or 3 ft long.
put the gas cap on and shack the heck out of it.. do it 2 or 3 times a day for a few days. i cleaned one that way and came out nice.
It really isn't that bad. It's just completely dry& I thought I would wipe it out so I was wondering what would be the best to wipe it with before I put more gas in it. DPI.
Using just plain alcohol will help clean it out and also remove any water left and it will dry with no residue.
