gas tank question

I'm working on a 35 chevy standard and wou like to use a 32 ford gas tank. Has anyone did this? The frame has been cut up and part of the metal in the rear is missing. I plan to leave the sheetmetal under the trunk area off. Would this be possible or should I just put it in the trunk. Trying to fill the void between the rear bumper and the body. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks

Build something that looks like a tank and stuff it in there. Then put your tank under the car. You could even put a working filler spout in the fake tank and run the tube to the real tank? You asked for "any suggestions" Good luck.
