gas tank suction screen

So where do you find, or how do you make, a new suction screen for the fuel suction line inside your gas tank? I am cleaning/sealing the gas tank in my 61 ford and setting it up with an electric fuel pump and 1/2" suction line from tank and need a new screen. Help is appreciated.

I have made them from ordinary copper house screen before, just make up a bootie and hose clamp it to the line, make sure the line end is near the bottom of the tank when you re install it..

If you go to your local parts store Carter makes in tank sreen/filter for the older Vegas and Pinto. It has a small metal flange that will clamp right on to a 1/2 line.

Some hardware stores carry stainless screening as well. Smart idea doing this.

Try your local Ford dealer. The screen shouldnt necessarily have to be for your exact application. you should be able to get by with about any non fuel injected application through the mid 80's. If its a dealer that has been around forever, they probably have one that has been sitting on the shelf for 15 years if not they should be able to order one. As I recall they were quite inexpensive .
