Gaskets

I am replacing the intake manifold gasket on a 327 cid Chevy. Do I need to put any kind of silicone on the gasket frist? When I removed the old one I am not sure if there was any on it or I just was scraping off old gasket? THANKS GOWSER.

The only place I use silicone when replacing a intake gasket is.. The four corners where they meet the rubber's front and back.. I NEVER use the rubbers,, Run a bead of silicone on the front and back where the rubbers go.. Work's much better then using the rubbers..

Not only does it work better, its the only way that works.
Toss the rubbers. They always shift.
