Gaskets or no gaskets? Chevy 350

Guys - I'm new at building a Chevy engine. (All previous jobs have been on Studebaker L-heads, OHV 6s and the 259/289 V8s.)

I'm stuck on something and need a Chevy expert's help, please.

On the picture I just took and posted you see both the attachment points for the oil pump and the filter adapter. My gasket kit does not include ones for either, leading me to wonder if either spots is supposed to have a gasket.

Both are encased in an oil atmosphere when the engine's 'put together' but I'm hesitant to bolt up metal on metal without a gasket. Especially when we're talking about oil under pressure.

What's the word on this? And thanks much for helping a newby!
