I'm stuck on something and need a Chevy expert's help, please.
On the picture I just took and posted you see both the attachment points for the oil pump and the filter adapter. My gasket kit does not include ones for either, leading me to wonder if either spots is supposed to have a gasket.
Both are encased in an oil atmosphere when the engine's 'put together' but I'm hesitant to bolt up metal on metal without a gasket. Especially when we're talking about oil under pressure.
What's the word on this? And thanks much for helping a newby!
Agree no need for a filter mount gasket. And normally nothing needed for the oil pump either.
If an oil pump sealing surface was dinged, there are soft copper gaskets that can save you from remachining the surfaces.
