gasser suspension

I'm considering building a gasser style street car for my next project. I'm curious about the difference in handling characterisitics of a single transverse leaf spring and wishbones ('32 Ford style) vice parallel springs. Any comments?

Handling is affected by suspension linkage, not by suspension springs (assuming no change in wheel rates). The leaf spring in a parallel leaf rear suspension is commonly both a suspension link and a suspension spring, so it does affect handling. But, if the leaf spring of a front suspension is not a part of the linkage which controls axle movement, it does not affect handling.

Ride, however, is another matter. And...with ride considerations..., preferences become quite subjective. So, some may say they like the ride of a transverse leaf front suspension and some may prefer the ride of parallel leafs.
