Sorry, the only gasser I have is an AMT model of Stone, Woods & Cook, used to watch those guys run at Lions back in the day along with Mazmanian, K.S. Pitman, Loper, Jr. Thompson and others....loved the Gassers!!
I still dont understand the whole concept behind gassers. Anyone care to explain why you would want the front of you car so dam high in the air? I bet it handles great! :drunk:

dog, two words== weight transfer. a high car would wheele and transfer all all the weight to the rear wheels. in the 60s the cars/gassers had to be high to transfer that weight. tires back then were not sticky like now. you needed hight to transfer the weight,,,

Back then drag racing with that kind of power was in it`s infancy.
Making over a 1000 horsepower with no sticky tires, no drag shocks, no track bite so they had to do what they could to get the cars to hook. They were aware of aerodynamics but there wasn`t much need to experiement with it on cars like gassers. The high steering and massive weight transfer caused the driver to be really busy as the steering was something new to learn all by itself when the tires are barely touching the ground. It still wasn`t uncommon for them to smoke the tires for the entire quarter mile.
Better tire technology and better suspension and traction aides is what ended the gasser days, as why drive a car down the quarter mile when the spooky steering wasn`t exactly safe when you could build a drag car that hooked great plus had close to normal steering. However there was a certain charm about gassers, they look mean and they sound even meaner. Plus I`ve never met that anyone that didn`t love the willys bodies.
I also loved the fuel altered Bantam draggers like Pure Hell, Super Nanook, Pure Heaven, Warlock II just to name a few, now those guys made some serious power.
