gauges
so i'm hooking up my ammeter for the first time and would like to know if i can hook up the meter to the charge wire off the alternator the wire that goes to the battery (the one with the nut)

Are you talking ammeter or voltmeter?
A voltmeter can be hooked up to any positive source. That one on the alternator would be a good one. It would then show how many volts you alternator is putting out. An ammeter has to be placed inline on the circuit. In other words, a wire has to come to the gauge, through it and back to the source.

ya i know that it needs to be in seires but wasn't sure about the wire if there would be to much power but yes thank you for the info
