Gauges on transplant
I'm running a 5.3 with the GM pcm in my 59 Chevy Suburban. What are my options for gauges without tapping the engine for mechanicals? I need a temp and oil pressure gauge at least.

Good question, I wish I knew the answer to that. I have a 4.8 in my '51 Pontiac Tin Woody, and in a fit of desperation I used the donor Silverados complete wiring harness and gauge panel. I'd like to have known the answer before I cut up my dash...and then found the fuel gauge and temp gauge don't work, and the odometer is dark with the engine running. The truck was hamered in the front, and probably something got "customized" in the collison. On the plus side, you'll love the 5.3...

re
If it helps metric pipe is BSP [british standard pipe] and many of the mechanical oil pressure and temp gauges might have adapters, or they are available from the likes of mcmaster or MSC. Might be able to use your stock gauges....
