Gear Change

Ok, now that I have the S10 running Im trying to decide what gears to put in the rear. The truck originally had a 4cyl manual trans, so im assuming its either a 3.73 or a 4.10, Im leaning more towards a 4.10 cause Im @ 3500 rpms @ 60 mph with a TH350, my last s10 was a 3.73 cause I could be @ 3000 rpms doing about 65 and the codes in the glove box matched a 3.73. This one doesnt have a code sheet in the glove box so im not sure. I would rather keep the TH350 then upgrading to a 700r4, so what gear ratio would help me cruise more as well as have the take off if I need?

700r4 is a great Trans, but the only thrifty and smart upgrade WRT an Auto, is a 200-4r with some mild upgrades. It has a better 1st gear for what you are doing, and the 1-2 shift is closer than the 700r4's. Dimensionally, its better still because its the same length as a short tail TH350.
