Dyno tests have proven a chain to be more efficient than a gear, but if you like the noise, , go for it.

Had one on an engine I built that blew up. Sounded good but very hard to tell over open headers on an 11.5:1 compression engine. But standing in front of engine you could hear em buzzin and it sounded good. Im not sure if it would have become an annoyance like a lot of others say. Some people love it and it drives others crazy driving down the highway.

I have a customer with one and I cringe when he pulls up because he always leaves the truck running and that D4MN gear drive annoys the crap outta me.

I rather listen to a gear drive than a stereo with bass so loud the body panels buzz and rattle........ now THAT'S annoying! I prefer the quiet ones though.

I know a guy who has one in his '32. I said man, it sounds good at idle and low speed........what about open highway????? "Annoying after a while". He wouldn't do it again.

I've never had one myself. I want one I heard a 1967 firebird with one and it sounds like a supercharger whining it sounds so nice... And dido to the ghetto bass pounding garbage.... Im glad theres only a few kids in town that have a big system in there car that is so annoying... I have a 1977 dodge short bed lowered with 1 5/8 headers and true duals with supper 44s thats my sterio system. There no noise on earth better then the sound of an american V8..

I have one in my blown T Bucket. I love the noise but after about 40-50 miles your head is ringing. Don't really know what makes the most noise. The blower, the gear drive, 2 four inch mufflers or the tires on the road.

I agree! hate 'em

To me, it sounds like there's something WRONG with the motor.

I love mine I've ran it for over 10 years, I don't think any chain will do that. There was an article in Hot Rod or Popular Hotrodding that did a comparison with chains gears and belts and they were all with in like 1.2 horsepower.

I run one on a 400 sbc and about the only thing i really do NOT like about it is when its time to set the idle/air screws. Hard to hear the sound of the exhaust over the whine. as for going down the road i hardly hear it. But that could be due to running flow masters that dump right under the vehicle without tailpipes LoL
