Gear drives

I'm thinking about putting a Gear drive in my 350 drag car motor. I don't like the noisy whine of them I just like a little noticible sound that will be hard to hear over my exhaust (Super comp headers, 3" tubing and Flow 40's) How much noise difference is there between the quiet and noisy gear drives?? If I use the quiet one with a thick cover will I be happy?

re: Gear drives

There's no real way to tell you how loud it is, but I can say it's not annoyingly loud, at least compared to the noisy one. If you want the wine to be there, go for it.

re: Gear drives

My truck has a gear drive in it ... I'm told it's a very quiet one ... and I can't stand it because I like listening to my engine and pipes. This is supposedly a "quiet" gear drive and I can't listen to my pipes or engine -- at all. I mean I can hear them, but I sure can't enjoy listening to them with that "damned whine!"

I can't wait to swap it out.
