Which gear oil?

 I want to change the gear oil out of my 67 El Camino, it has a GM 12 bolt with posi and 4.10 gears. What do you recommend? I have read that you should not use synthetic gear oil for this. How much oil will it take and should I use an additive for the posi unit?

Also, what oil weight will be best?

Hi
75w90 name brand gear oil. some come with the clutch additive already in it, if not the dealer ship has it. As for synthetic Eaton says not to use it, to slick for the clutches to work properly
Rich
PS I can't remember how much it holds, but I think it about 2qts. I just put the additive in then fill it till it starts oozing out.

I use Lucas Gear Lube 80-90W , for the posi unit if the unit is an Eaton use the G.M. additive from your local dealer. The GM additive is recommened by Eaton, and as stated in an previous post Eaton does not recommend synthetic oil. Rear axle assembly should take 2 1/4 quarts if totally drained.
