gear ratio

okay my 85 GMC Sierra pickup ( 2 wheel drive) will hardly do a burn out, i can rev the thing to the high heavens and it will still barely burn out, could the fact that it has a 2.73 gear ratio have anything to do with it.

273 gear....what engine??? what transmission? Less power with less gear makes it hard.

can't smoke the tires or shouldn't smoke the tires?

Is this possably a V6 engine we are talking about here? Big heavy truck and small engine might just be the problem.

You're not revving it up and putting it in drive are you?

2.73 ratio isn't exactly an off-idle performance setup. Of course the 305's weren't exactly a performance engine either. Id say its a combination of both

And like Ghetto said, I hope your not revving it to the "high heavens" and dropping it into drive isn't a great thing to do. You'll eventually find your entire driveline in "high heaven."

yeah i would say a combination of your motor, tires (width and hight) and your axle and prolly your tranny... i have a 350 with a th350 tranny shift kit and 2:73 gears... i can cherp em at a stop light. and i can spin a tire around a turn for about 30 feet from a dead stop and thats all she has when i floor it.. not anything special, but she has a rather high top speed for a 1966 chevy 3/4 ton truck.. oh and my tires are 29 inches tall... and i can go over 100 in her..
