Question Gear selection for my Trans am

I am thinking about changing my rearend gears in my 77 Trans am. I have 2.73 in the rearend now and was thinking about going to 3.73. This set me to wondering if I had selected to low a gear for a pontiac 400. What would you guys recommend 3.23, 3.42, or 3.73?

It usually depends on the type of driving and what you are wanting to accomplish(Better E.T./
faster take-offs) or any factors like that.
If it was me I would go with the lowest out of your selection, because normally if go with just a little bit lower gear you will wish you had
tried the 3.73 because it is the all around gear
especially on the street.
