Gear shift column removal

Dont know where this one belongs. On my 39 packard steering column with 3 on the tree shaft, there is a pin thing inside the steering wheel hub that prevents the tree shaft from coming out. Any ideas on how to remobve said pin?? It is NOT threaded or hex just a round cap thingy. Help??? for pics see my journal, thanks
