gen light on 67 camaro

The gen light is on when car is running.. I checked out the the alt and battery system and things are testing ok. It wasnt on before and cant find why its on. Car runs fine. The light being on for unknown reasons seems to be just an annoyance right now, but want to make sure im not overlooking something more serious

The way the light works:
If there is power on both sides it does not light (12 volts from ignition switch and 12 volts from alternator.
Power on ignition side only; alternator not charging - this creates a high voltage difference and it turns on.

If the light is on (and you have ignition power), you are undercharging, or it is finding a path to ground on the alternator side.

generator light

Hello, I had the same thing happen to me after putting a new gauge cluster in my 67, Check the center screw at the top of the cluster, there is a ground wire loop metal thing that has to be grounded when that screw is installed, the screw is probably missing or the wire is missing, Good luck, Chuck
