Online options for paint would have had me waiting two weeks. The tractor supply stores around here only had spray paint in stock. So I went to Lowes and got 3 quarts of Safety Red and 1 Quart of Safety Yellow and a gallon of Acetone. I dissembled some of the exterior, sanded and taped off the car in a manic 7 hours. I sprayed 7 coats of the stuff I mixed with a DevilBiss spray gun I borrowed. I will never paint in anything but a paint booth again. I was wearing a respirator and never smelled anything until I was cleaning up with acetone, but it was still nasty. The paint dusted everything in my buddy's shop orange. Going to try to use acetone to wipe some of it off tomorrow. About 15 flies flew into the paint job and rolled around it. Overall it turned out better than I expected, but not something I would ever do again. I still have to create a template for the confederate navy jack, the 01 and the General Lee. Any advice on the best way to do that would be appreciated. Right now it is still sticky but dry. I'm hoping it will be a bit drier tomorrow.

Holy cow, 7 hours of prep. I REALLY AM SLOW!!! I did a couple farm trucks for a guy in a similar fashion, basically just sanded them so the paint would stick and filled a few holes with duraglas (thats how he wanted em fixed!), still took me 20 hours each from washing to pulling the masking off. Course he was paying me by the hour, so I was in no big hurry lol.

I like the color. Too bad you couldnt find some paint with hardener.

I got it home just now. After a little more than 24 hours paint is dry and no longer sticky, but it is still soft as my fingernail proved. Also, there seemed to be more orange peel right after I painted it than when it dried. I could be wrong, but it sure seems that way.

Anything that runs for $100 is a super deal in my book. Let alone a Subaru, dont those things like literally run forever? Its probably 4wd too?

The largest BMW dealership in the world is in Newport, California I have been told. A very wealthy area indeed, just brand new Beemers everywhere. It's kind've weird. Between the towns of Zig Zag and Boring, Oregon 500 dollar Subaru wagons reign supreme. I was lucky enough to find this one, it had 227,000 on it when I got it, and most of the critters had moved on to other homes. I had to rip half the interior and carpet out as it was too nasty to recover. It has AWD and one of the speakers works pretty good too. The wheels were so rusty that I had 5 flats in one month, but 40 bucks of fix a flat seems to have cleared up the problem. Anyway, it is solidly the worst car I've ever owned or ridden in.
