generator to alternator conversion

k be easy with me, im a newbie and a female lol, but i just purchased a 1949 plymouth special deluxe club coupe and i am trying to make her young again...... please help

Simplest thing to do is use a GM one wire alternator. Building the alternator mount would probably the toughest part. The existing 6-volt wiring is plenty heavy for the 12 volt system. Change the battery, bulbs to 12 volt, starter will work on 12 volts and use 12-6 volt drops on gauges and motors..

Very informative.
What kind of shape is she in? YIs it running? If so you should have no problem with keeping it 6V. You could just change the battery to 12V for starting . Read this link.
