Wish you had put that as your opening line in your comment, so it would show up when people hover the mouse over the thread title. That's not much time.

OMG, they can't crush those things! It's inhuman.

Some of those look better than what some folks began with in their journals on here.

I wonder why they had such poor timing?? The scrap market is gone for now; reached it's peak a few monts ago. Lots of money lost there.......just think if he crushed at the peak, then out it in stocks

It looks like a well run yard, so I wonder if there is more to this story..like they sold the land?

I have seen cases like this before. More than likely there is a medical illiness in the family and they need money. Most likely due to their location a developer wants to buy the ground or a new road is going to be built and they are pressured to sell instead of getting hounded by the state/county / town or whatever to meet new ordinances and regulations which would make it easier to sell than to continue doing business.

Ditto, Dinger, IMO it's a sales gimmick.

Huge inventory blowout sale, pre tax sale, post tax sale, pre election sale, annual going out of business sale, killem all and let god sortem out sale....

He's probably backed up on loan payments on his land note because nothing is moving out the front gate and is doing his variation of the "lost our lease" sale.

Later, mikey

You do the math on the guy and he is at least 59 years old. He probably is being beat to death by newer and more restrictive regulations every year. His tax burden is probably astronomical. And some developer is probably offering him STOOPID money for the land. I think he truly loves cars and the people that put them together, but faced with limited time on earth left, love from us car guys only goes so far.

That 1967 Oldsmobile 98 4-door hardtop with only 65,000 miles probably has a 425 and hydra matic (Jetaway) tranny in it. $850 would be a good price for that alone. Probably had a tilt telescopic steering column as well. Can't remember if it had a 12 bolt rear end - anybody?? Lots of other parts to sell and get back your original monies.

Well on the plus side .

I hit my local 4 bome yards today & the biggest one was cleaned out ...mostly new chit but they locked in the day before the $$ dropped out ,went from $14.50 per 100lbs to $2.!!!

So hopefully things will level out for a while.

I don't know if its a ploy to spend that you would normally wait but if its not I did my part in spreading the truth or rumor.
