From what I can remember, the Getrag was found in rear wheel drives, I am unsure if they had a FWD version.
If you find different, I will add it to my next update in the Transmission information sticky post. No engine in the Cavaliers' line-up from that era will even remotely come close to having the same bellhousing bolt pattern as the LT1. I would also venture to state that any transmission found in that type of car would grenade quite quickly if there was a way to mount it to an LT1 V-8. |

What is a "Getrag" tranny?
And don't tell me it's the same as a "henway".

YUP, it could very well be Getrag F23 (GM#'s- M86/M94/MG3) transmission.
This link will tell a LOT of information about Getrag transmissions and other products. This site link shows the information on this particular front wheel drive transmission for the 2004 cars it's included in. The one you have may not be the same exact unit, but could be a preceding model similar to this one. From the spec's on the F23 unit I would be confidant in saying it wouldn't even come close to staying together with the power of the LT1, even if there was any remote way of converting many things to adapt to it. When I find more time I will look into posting links to many of these transmissions, but since I specialize in GM I will still be looking for others to ask me to post this type of info in the sticky post for the other makes of vehicles.
