Getting a new title?

I was wondering if anyone here knows how to get a title for a vehicle in IL if i don't have one. I have an 80's S10 that i wanted to build up but the title is nowhere to be found. Right now its basically a cab and rolling chassis and the title disappeared about 4 owners ago. Ideas?

And do the same rules for obtaining a late model title apply to obtaining a title for old rods? I heard somewhere that getting one for a early vehicle is alot easier than getting one for late models, but that may just be BS.

For decades now, I keep seeing people mention Broadway Title Co. Somewhere down south. Google it.

I am sure it must be difficult to get titles for late models.

Every state seems to have different rules on registering old cars. Some states don't need a title, just a bill of sale and a VIN check by an inspector or police dept.

Some states will issue a title to car that came from out of state without a title. Ours won't, here in Ct.

If you have a VIN number on the truck take that to your state DMV. They can research it and tell if it is clear or not. The title companies are not legal in just about every state and can get you in a real jam. Most states have provisions for built cars.
