Getting a title for a former drag car

Another possibility LOL

I'm looking at a 68 drag car. I live in Indiana. How would I go about getting it certified so I could get plates, be street legal, etc?

Would something like broadwaytitle.com do the trick? Or do I have to get it checked out/certified in person somehow?

I don't know about Indiana, but here in California, you would need a "bill of sale" and if the car still has the VIN you would just have to have it inspected (if it was from out of state). If it was an in-state car with a VIN, a "bill of sale" is all you would need, as long as the car was clear (not reported stolen, or or had any liens on it), you could just pay the fees and be on your way.

If the car has no title or VIN, you would have to take it to the Highway Patrol and have a VIN issued and the DMV would then issue you a title. The car would also have to be inspected to make sure everything worked and it was legal.

I think that covers most of it.

I am going through the same thing here in Texas.....DMV is making me get a Bonded Title. i suppose it is best to do it that way.
Have to have a Bill of Sale, two appraisals and make a statement as to how I got the vehicle and who I got it from.

Call the DMV and ask, each state has it's own rules and regs.

What are you trying to get a title on? I will shortly be exploring my options on getting a title for my 34 project. I am also in Texas.

PM me, I would like to discuss what you are having to go through.
