Ghost Flames

Hello, new to this forum, but old hand at others. Wanted to know if anyone had any detail info on Ghost Flames. I want to do them on my '57, but dont know how to get the effect. If you konw of a good painter in the Dallas area, that would work as well. Thanks

Rod

Oh, I guess I could give some detials. My '57 is charcole gray with a silver/blue interior trim. My thoughts are to lay on a silver to matching silver/blue phantom/ghost flame job, possibly with pearl tips. I will carry over the flame treatment to the interior door pannels and possibly the dash. I have a set of rear aluminum '57 BelAir inserts that I also plan to paint to match the interior trim then polish out the ribs. Lastly the interior will be done in grey and white leather. Thoughts?

As a matter of fact I just did some today on a lowered V-8 S-10 . I based it black and then I taped off what I wanted for flames . I then mixed up some clear base with blue pearl and just lowered the pressure and pattern on my gun so to get it spraying just a small circle, I then sprayed just the outline of the flames with my gun pointed at an angle towards the open area of the flames just so the paint (or pearl mixture) would blend back . I then took some white pearl mixture I had and just lightly fogged the tips and wow what a cool effect , it just happened to be my first ghost flame job and I love it , gonna do more now , In fact the wife wants some on her van
I'm gonna go look into what it takes to get a photo album and if I get one I'll post the pictures .

I did my S-10 with the clear and pearl treatment listed above. I had never done them before, and they turned out great. I used red pearl for the body, and blue a the tips on top of a purple base. The trick is to figure out what mixture you want on the pearl and clear. It does not take much at all. Got a pic of mine in my album if you want to see.
